Workshops

We are proud to organize, in 2009, the first in what we plan to be a series of educational workshops on hospital and oncology pharmacy. The goal of the workshops is to acquire an understanding of the European perspective on how to handle, resolve or simplify particular situations hospital pharmacists encounter in their profession, which can easily be applied into national/local practises. The content of the workshops will be crafted in such a manner as to be practical and specific to the general needs of European hospital and oncology pharmacists and oncologists, offering practical solutions to a particular topic.

The objective of the May 2009 workshop titled ‘Development of a pharmacoeconomic evaluation score card for European hospital pharmacists’ is the design of a quantitative pharmacoeconomic evaluation score card that hospital pharmacists can use to interpret and assess the quality of economic evaluations and value of drugs, medical devices and clinical pharmacy interventions, to objectify cost-effectiveness.

The deliverables of this workshop are a scientific paper published in a peer-review international journal and two brief articles published in European Pharmacy Practice, sharing this collected information with a wide audience. The final pharmacoeconomic evaluation score card can be further used as training material in seminars or workshops, and it can be implemented as a functional and reliable instrument in hospital pharmacies.

These two papers and the score card were included into the publication of the Pharmacoeconomics book. The score card is further developed into a CD-Rom for practical application.

The Pharmacoeconomics book is available for purchase and the CD-Rom score card is available for free. Contact us for more information.

If you have any suggestions of hospital or oncology pharmacy aspects that deserve our attention and would represent appealing topics for a workshop, please contact us for further discussion.
