Pan-European surveys on hospital pharmacy practice
Our constant endeavour is to provide European hospital and oncology pharmacists with information that is not only recent, but also relevant to their profession, which allows them to keep track of the developments in the constantly changing world of hospital and oncology pharmacy science.
In addition to the up-to-date materials submitted for publication by respected contributors, the editorial office conducts/coordinates pan-European surveys on various topics within the fields of hospital and oncology pharmacy practises. The results of these surveys are converted into editorial content for publication in the ‘Pan-European Practice in Hospital Pharmacy’ section, which reflects on how hospital pharmacy is being practised in Europe and shows how hospital pharmacists in different countries find solutions for similar questions.
Thus far, the following topics have been successfully tackled and the results of the surveys are shared with our readers:
- 2007: disaster preparedness, drug acquisition costs, off-label prescribing, pharmaceutical preparation and production, waste management
- 2008: compounding, HIV care, oncology pharmacy, risk management
- 2008: role of European oncology pharmacists in patient education in CML treatment (a summary report of this survey has been published in EJOP, 2009, Issue 2)
- 2009: continuity of care, small hospital pharmacies
- 2010: management skills, medicinal gases, thromboembolism practices in hospital
We continue raising probing questions as it is our belief that only by being inquisitive can we learn and grow. If you have any suggestions of aspects of hospital and oncology pharmacy you consider deserve our attention and would represent appealing topics for a pan-European survey, please contact us.
